The Board of the Bay Area Consulting Network (BACN)
worked very hard to bring best selling author, Jeffrey
J. Fox to our monthly meeting in February. It was a
special event designed to bring in new members.
And what did Mr. Fox say? He had the audacity to
declare that "Relationships
are bunk."
Wait a minute!
Alpha Presencesm training is built on the premise
that relationships are the core of business energy
and transactions. What is going on here? "Relationships are bunk...When it comes to the next
sale, a relationship is absolutely no guarantee..." claims
Mr. Fox in his soon to be released book "The Secrets
of Great Rainmakers."
He is right.
If you believe that you are going to drive business
because you made a buddy, you are bound for dissapointment.
Fox goes on to say that the real issue for a sales
person is delivering identifiable and measurable value.
Relationship won't cover the lack of articulated dollar
return your product or service provides.
Ok, if he is right, what do I mean
when I say that relationships drive an organization?
If you imagine that you have a "buddy" who "owes" you,
then you have already lost the relationship. Recall
a time when you were approached and asked to do something
with the assumption that you "owed" it. Most of us
in this situation become cautious and defensive, polite
and withdrawn.
As you develop your Alpha Presencesm,
your engagment and presence will be more powerful than
dependency on relationship history.
If you want to become one of the
best sales people, one of those who builds networks
of prospects, closes more deals and delivers more
quantifiable value to your customers (i.e. become
a "rainmaker") build your
Alpha Presencesm muscle.
Then learn how to focus your message
with Jeffrey.
